Barley
Barley, which is one of the Gramineae, is a grain plant used as malt and feed. In Turkey, 90% of the consumption is used as animal feed, and the rest is used as malting in the beer industry and the food industry.
Barley, which ranks 4th in the world after corn, wheat and rice production among cereals, is second after wheat in Turkey.
Barley used as animal feed should have a high protein rate. Excess of glume reduces its nutritional value. Therefore, they use six-row barley, which is high in protein and poor in glume, as fodder barley.
