Sunflower seeds
Sunflower seeds are the fruit of the sunflower. A member of the daisy family, the sunflower is a yellow-flowered agricultural plant cultivated for its seeds and oil. Sunflower is one of the most important oil crops in Turkey and the world. It is cultivated primarily in the Marmara Region of Turkey and is concentrated in the Thrace Region. Sunflower oil ranks first among vegetable oils preferred for its edible quality.
Sunflower seeds contain high amounts of high-quality oil, ranking first in terms of cultivation area, production, and oil production. These seeds, which can also be eaten as seeds, contain numerous beneficial nutrients. Their low saturated fat content, rich linoelic acid, and high nutritional value, along with the essential nutrients found in fat-soluble vitamins such as A, D, E, and K, make them particularly important for human health.
