Cotton
It is a plant species native to India. It is an annual plant due to its growing season. It is planted in the spring and harvested by hand or machine between August and October.
Cotton is not used in the textile industry with its seeds. The fibers are separated from the seeds by a cotton gin. All cotton grown in Turkey is medium-fiber, and many varieties are used.
The areas where cotton is most densely produced in Turkey are the Aegean, Çukurova, Southeastern Anatolia regions, and Antalya. In the Southeastern Anatolia region, and the city of Şanlıurfa is the most heavily cultivated. In the Mediterranean region, production is primarily in Adana, Mersin, Kahramanmaraş, and Hatay.
It also has extensive medical and industrial uses.
