Barley
Barley, a member of the cereal family, is a grain used for malting and feed. In Turkey, 90% of its consumption is as animal feed, while the remaining portion is used for malting in the brewing and food industries.
Barley ranks fourth in grain production globally, after corn, wheat, and rice, and second only to wheat in Turkey.
Barley used for animal feed must have a high protein content. Excess hulls reduce its nutritional value. Therefore, six-row barley, which is high in protein and low in hulls, is used as feed barley.
