60 square meters of Turkish flag on the border – 09.03.2021 Sabah

Hatay has been a capital of brotherhood and tolerance for years. While a sectarian war raged in Syria right next door, for centuries, Muslims, Christians, Armenians, Jews, Alevis, Sunnis, Orthodox Christians, Catholics, and Protestants have lived together in Hatay. I recently saw a photo of a giant Turkish flag waving in all its glory right on the border. I learned that Murat İçcan, a businessman from Kırıkhan, opened a 100,000-ton factory owned by his Özova Group, 35 kilometers from the Syrian border. İçcan’s sons, Mevlüt and Onur İçcan, say that despite repeated mortar fire during the construction of the Kırıkhan factory, construction never stopped. İçcan erected a 60-square-meter Turkish flag on the highest point of the factory as a deterrent to the enemy.
